Midway City, Utah Volksmarch

What is a Volksmarch? Mountainous European regions founded these non competitive community walks to connect towns with trails as a way for people to become engaged more in their community and with neighboring villages. Midway’s unique and historic barns, homes, main street, and natural land formations will be part of this beautiful fall day. Included will be fun historic explanations, anecdotes, and folklore along the route. Organizers hope participants who live here or love to visit, will learn something new and be inspired by something old. They want people to value the past history, appreciate what they have today, and become engaged by seeing what role each can play in protecting the future of Midway. There will be a midday town party on Midway’s historic town square with local food trucks, entertainment, bounce houses, a climbing wall, informational booths, and feature presentations. Local sponsors are offering raffle items and day of event specials. Midway’s own local resident, Robert Duncan - world renowned artist, will be this year’s featured citizen and will be recognized at the event for his contributions to rural preservation! His beautiful print titled ‘Anniken and the Cows’ will be available at a special price for the event. Funds raised from our generous sponsors, as well as the sale of Robert Duncan’s prints, Patricia Smith’s Volksmarch poster, walking sticks, and other items will be donated to benefit trails, open space and rural preservation.
