Cheap and Free Deals for Kids
Kids in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade can ski 45 days with the Ski Utah Passport. The $69 Passport gives kids 3 days at each of Utah's 15 resorts.
Kids 12 and under ski free at Nordic Valley in Eden, Eagle Point in Beaver, and Brian Head in southern Utah.
Deals for Seniors It pays to grow up!
On the other end of the age spectrum, there are senior deals. This comes at a time when many resorts have eliminated reduced pricing for seniors.
If you're 75 or older, skiing is free at Nordic Valley and Brian Head with a Super Senior season pass.
At Cherry Peak in Richmond, those 70 and older get a season pass for $100.
Alta continues its $50 senior season pass for those 80 and older and also a special Alta 80+ ski pin. Any mid-week morning you'll meet lots of seniors in the Albion day lodge.
More Innovations and Deals
Beaver Mountain has innovated season pass insurance. It costs $25. You can recover the entire cost of your season pass, up to the end of February, if you have to quit skiing because of injury, illness, pregnancy or relocation.
Ski ticket and rescue insurance has been available in Europe for many years. In one case, an injured skier had to be hauled up from a deep slope – part of the mountain's normal terrain. A toboggan or snowmobile could not do the long, uphill haul, so a helicopter was called. The total bill would have been $25,000 or more if she did not have the insurance.
Powder Mountain has made lots of changes. In an effort to keep the slopes uncrowded, it does not accept the Epic, Ikon or Indy pass. In February, weekend skiing is for season pass holders only. The senior season pass which used to be $20 is now over $1,300. Parking costs $12 on holidays and weekends, but a car with 3 or more passengers is always free.
At nearby Snowbasin, parking is always free.
Brighton has ticket packs that can be used any time. Choose a 3-, 4-, or 5-day pack. Or, buy a 10-ticket pack that's interchangeable, so you can bring your whole family or your friends and you can all ski together.
If you have a Solitude season pass, your friends or family can get a 25% discount on their lift tickets.
Brian Head has special pricing that varies from day to day through December. Your ticket includes a $10 resort credit.
Deer Valley has a Locals Only 5 Pass. Locals can ski any 5 mid-week days for half the cost of daily tickets.
