The annual Quad Wednesdays are scheduled for Dec. 11 and Dec. 18 at Brighton.

On Dec. 11, bring warm clothing: jackets, hats, gloves, socks. They'll be donated to the homeless shelters, and you get to ski for $25 that day.

On Dec. 18, bring bags of non-perishable food to be donated to the Utah Food Bank, and you get to ski again for $25 that day.

The annual event began years ago when Brighton installed the Snake Creek Quad chair -- one of the first quad chairs in the area. To celebrate, it offered 4-for-1 lift tickets. But it was mayhem because the computer was programed to spit out 4 tickets, but few skiers came in groups of 4. Hosts tried to match up groups of 4, but even that got complicated because some had a credit card and others had large bills. The groups had to figure out how to divvy it up.

After that, Brighton turned to win-win donation  Quad Wednesdays.
