Chicago has established residence in Utah.
The Midvale Main Street Theatre will be presenting “Chicago The Musical” from April 7-16.
Located at 7711 Main Street in Midvale, Utah, the play tells the story of several vengeful women and the crimes they commit. The show is a satirical look on corruption and the administration of criminal justice.
Based on a 1926 play of the same name by Maurine Dallas Watkins, the musical takes place in the prohibition era of Chicago. The original Broadway production was staged in 1975 receiving numerous Tony Award nominations. With music by John Kander, the production became the second longest running show in Broadway history behind only “The Phantom of the Opera” in 2014.
In 2002 the show was adapted into a film and went on to win six Academy Awards including Best Picture.
There will be nine shows produced between April 7-16. To buy tickets go to themidvaletheatre.com.
