Holladay – The suspect parked a large Ford truck (later found to be stolen) at the gas pumps and entered the gas station. He presented the clerk with a note saying, “This is a robbery." The clerk complied and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

UPD officers located the stolen truck driving northbound on Highland Drive after the clerk called and reported the robbery. The truck immediately fled when they attempted a traffic stop and a pursuit was initiated. An unoccupied vehicle was struck by the truck during the pursuit, causing minor damage. Officers lost sight of the stolen truck in the area of 400 E. 1700 S. and the pursuit was called off. Within ten minutes, a citizen called and reported the truck abandoned at 609 E. 2100 S. and also reported seeing the male suspect flee on foot toward 700 E.

A containment was quickly established, but officers soon learned that the suspect had hailed a taxi and left the area. UPD detectives found that the suspect had been dropped off in the area of 900 W. North Temple St. It is suspected that he is staying in one of the hotels near that area.

Unified Police Department is releasing surveillance photos from the Phillips 66 in hopes that someone will recognize the suspect. If anyone has information as to the identity of the suspect they are asked to call the UPD Violent Crimes Unit at 385-468-9814.
